Elle Thorne impresses from the get go!

This was my first time reading a title by Elle Thorn, and it definitely won't be my last! I was immediately engaged in the story and connected to Niki--there's something about a tough guy being given a domestic role and the way it riles them up that gets me. But this once-upon-a-time special forced panther shifter shouldn't so quick to dismiss this gig as unworthy of his special talents. With both Sophie and Niko's lives in danger, they both have some truths to admit--to others or themselves--to overcome the big baddie that's out to get them. Will they succeed, and can their budding relationship survive the truth? No spoilers here, other than to say, WELL Worth the read and HIGHLY recommended!

Taking a chance

Niko , ex special forces (sexy panther). And he has been reduced to a glorified babysitter. This was only a job or that is what he thought. And now the chases is on can he actually confront all her demons and his own? Sofiie, she is all tigress but she is running for her family,from her life and her grim reality. She knows, her tigress knows but she can't forget the past. It's a constant reminder of all she has endured.
As danger looms can Sophie come clean and can Niko be the man he has always known he could be? Now with the secrets behind them can Sophie and Niko can find happiness?
Another fantastic shifter romance, Elle Thorne manages to tantalize ,captivate and seduce. Her Never after Dark series. Can't wait for more!

An intense, sexy love story

Sophie was so tired of her family. Okay, she was the baby but why did that mean that she always was overprotected, never taken seriously and never, ever had any peace from her father or her brother’s constant arguments. She needed some time alone, time to plan her future, time to formulate a plan that would keep her father from disowning her when she finally had to tell him the truth. So, she ran. She ditched the bodyguards that her family was famous for in their protection of her and simply went away.

Niko wasn’t comfortable in his role of stalker-protector. He was a man of action, not of sleuth and sublity. He’d been hired to watch over Sophie as she went on her self-discovery journey away from the protection of her family. It didn’t help one little bit that she was beyond beautiful and that his panther was gnawing at him to claim the lovely woman. In order to keep his true mission secret, Niko had to lie to Sophie. And that was one of the most difficult parts of this job because he wanted no lies between them, no questions in her eyes. He had never felt this way before and finally was agreeing with his panther that they had met their mate.

But right now, he and Sophie were in terrible danger and it would take their combined abilities to come out of this alive.

Forsaken is an intriguing, intense and very sensuous tale of two people discovering that much could be overcome when the love of a lifetime is on the line. Fast paced and full of emotions this novel is a delight to dive into with lively characters and a solid plot. I can’t want for the next story in this series. Highly recommend for any reader who loves paranormal romance, sexy lovers and a happy ending that leads to the next story.

Follows the movie script very closely, if you like the movie you'll like the book

I think I read somewhere that Mr. Key wrote this book at the time of the movie's release to tie the story in better to his 1968 book "Escape to Witch Mountain". Like the movie "Return" is quite a bit different to "Escape" but unlike many movie to book adaptations actually follows the script pretty closely. If you like the movie "Return from Witch Mountain" you'll like the novel.

I would not have believed that Amazon would accept such dirty tricks. The book "Return from Witch Mountain" was not written by Alexander Key as advertised. It is based on the Disney movie and characters created by Alexander Key. I was hoping for an original story, not for the retelling of a movie which was not that good to start with. But I was hoping that the book would be better that the film. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

That it was also in deplorable condition, far from being "acceptable" is another point. in the future I will know that what I consider acceptable is not the same as Amazon's term, and I will refrain from buying items that are labeled as such.

Wooden dialogue

I didn't read the previous book, but I'd seen the movie as a kid and found parts of it compelling even though it mostly felt weirdly embarrassing to watch it. (I can't really explain why.) I figured the book would tell me what happened to the kids after the place the movie left off. Mostly I just remember it being a book about Tony getting brainwashed and his sister and others having to save him, and I remember having a hard time picturing them as older than they were in the movie. The explanations for what was going on bothered me and seemed like they didn't quite make sense even though I don't think I knew enough about science at the time to be able to elaborate on why. I remember it being kind of hard to follow and thinking the dialogue was wooden, and so I ended up skimming the second half of the book and not really caring what happened.

8 Small Masterpieces

Mr. Covington is a Master story teller. Each one of these "Eight Grim Tales" is a small masterpiece. In a just world Mr. Covington would be materially wealthy. But, of course, in this world where they are ALWAYS paying the wrong people I don't think he is. What he is, though, is immensely gifted as a writer.

Great collection

This is a compelling collection and if the first two stories are perhaps a little on the light side, the stories just keep getting better as you get into it. I'd personally rate "The Stranger," an occult story about an immortal wizard visiting Dublin, as being in the same league as H. Russell Wakefield or M. R. James. The "Madman and Marina" meantime, about a Soviet officer hiding a guilty secret in Stalin's regime reads like a cross between Bulgakov and Gogol. Seriously worth checking out.
