Very Useful Read

This book falls into the category of civil engineering, but it may be certainly handful for every professional into the port industry. However, a few chapters (like chapter 5 which is too technical) are more oriented to civil engineers. Besides, some chapters might not be of any interest for many readers (for example, I skipped chapters 12 and 13 as they are concerned with fishery and marinas ports, respectively). At any rate, I really enjoyed reading the above book which conveys interesting information regarding the design and operation of port terminals. The book was quite well-written by two Dutch university professors, but it is full of practical hints.

A good introduction book for ports design. Covers a lot of aspects and also points to more in-depth references. I enjoy reading it and can certainly recommend it to people who are new to but interested in port design and planning.

Misleading content

I thought from the contents that a more hogh level analysis would be included in the book. The book is OK enough, but it follows a rather detailed approach in many aspects.
